Anne and Diana had a wonderful time in town. The exhibition was especially interesting. Anne told Marilla all about it later.
앤과 다이아나는 시내에서 아주 즐거운 시간을 보냈다. 박람회는 특별하고 흥미로웠다. 앤은 나중에 마릴라에게 모든 이야기를 해주었다.

"There were thousands of people there. There were even some from Avonlea. Josie Pye won first prize for her knitted lace.
박람회에는 사람이 수천명 있었는데요 애본리에서 온 사람들도 있었어요. 조시 파이는 손뜨개 레이스로 1등을 했어요.

Mrs.Lynde won first prize for her butter and cheese. There were others too. We even went to see the horse races. It was so exciting.
린드 아줌마는 버터와 치즈로 1등을 했구요. 다른 사람들도 있었어요. 우린 경마도 보러갔었는데 정말 흥분됐었죠.

Diana got so excited that she wanted to bet me ten cents that the red horse would win. I don't believe in betting, so I didn't. It's just as well because the red horse did win.
다이아나는 너무 흥분해서 제가 빨간 말에게 10센트를 걸기를 원했어요. 전 내기같은건 믿지 않아서 돈을 걸지 않았어요. 그런데 돈을 거는게 좋았을뻔한게 빨간 말 이 이겼거든요.

Miss Barry gave us ten cents, and we had our fortunes read. A man had a bird, and the picked a fortune out of a hat.
조세핀 고모가 우리한테 10센트씩 주셔서 우리의 운을 점 쳤어요. 그 아저씨는 새를 가지고 있었는데 모자에서 운수를 빼냈어요.

Mine was that I would marry a wealthy, dark-haired man and live overseas. We got to sleep in Miss Barry's spare
room too. However, it didn't seem so exciting this time. I guess I am growing up.
거기엔 제가 머리가 검은 부잣집 남자와 해외에서 살거라고 나왔어요. 우리는 조세핀 고모가 방을 마련해주셔서 거기서 잤어요.

The next night we went to a concert at the Academy of Music. It was so wonderful that I can't describe it. I couldn't speak. Madam Selitsky was so beautiful. She wore white satin and diamonds. I was very sorry when the concert ended.
다음날 밤 우린 음악 학원에서 여는 음악회에 갔는데 너무 멋져서 말로 설명을 할 수가 없네요. 말 할 수 없었어요. 셀리츠키 부인은 너무 아름다웠어요. 흰색 공단 드레스를 입고 다이아몬드를 했어요. 음악회가 끝났을땐 너무 아쉬웠어요.

After that, we went to a restaurant and ate ice-crea at eleven o'clock. It was very delicious. Diana said that she thought she could easily live in the city. Miss Barry asked me what I thought. I said that I didn't know.
다음에 우린 식당에 가서 11시에 아이스크림을 먹었어요. 그건 정말 맛있었어요. 다이아나가 도시에서 사는게 더 쉽게살수 있을거라고 말했어요. 조세핀 고모가 저는 어떻게 생각하는지 물으셨는데 전 모르겠다고 했어요.

However, I realized that city life was only interesting occasionally. I would rather be asleep in my room here at eleven o'clock.
하지만, 도시생활이 가끔만 재미있을것 같아요. 저는 밤11시에는 제 방에서 자는게 더 좋거든요.

On Friday just before we left, Miss Barry asked me if I had had a good time. I said that I had had a wonderful time. I really enjoyed every moment of it."
떠나기 전날 금요일에는 조세핀 고모가 제가 즐거운 시간을 보냈냐고 물으셨어요. 그래서 전 아주 즐거운 시간을 보냈다고 말씀드렸죠. 정말 매 순간이 즐거웠어요."
